Overview

ShareX can upload screenshots and files directly to your Google Drive, making them accessible from any device. This is a great option if you already use Google Workspace or need to share files within a Google ecosystem.

Setting Up Google Drive in ShareX

Step 1: Create Google API Credentials

  1. Go to Google Cloud Console
  2. Create a new project or select an existing one
  3. Go to APIs & Services > Library
  4. Search for "Google Drive API" and enable it
  5. Go to APIs & Services > Credentials
  6. Click Create Credentials > OAuth client ID
  7. Choose Desktop app as the application type
  8. Download the client configuration file

Step 2: Configure ShareX

  1. Open ShareX
  2. Go to Destinations > File uploaders > Google Drive
  3. Click Import and select the downloaded OAuth configuration file
  4. Click Authorize
  5. A browser window opens — log in and grant file access permissions
  6. Copy the authorization code back to ShareX

Step 3: Choose Upload Settings

In the Google Drive settings in ShareX:

  • Folder: Choose or create a specific folder for uploads (default is ShareX folder)
  • Share type:
    • Anyone with link — public access via link
    • Anyone in your organization — workspace only
    • Specific people — restricted access

Uploading to Google Drive

  1. Set Google Drive as your default file uploader
  2. Take a screenshot or select a file
  3. ShareX uploads the file and copies the shareable link

Managing Uploaded Files

  • Files appear in your Google Drive under the designated folder
  • Organize, rename, or delete files anytime from drive.google.com
  • 15 GB free storage shared across Google services

Tips

  • Create a dedicated "ShareX Uploads" folder for organization
  • Use Google Drive's file versioning to track changes
  • Files uploaded with "Anyone with link" access are still searchable — don't upload sensitive data publicly
  • For private screenshots, choose restricted sharing and grant access manually
