Overview

Imgur is one of the most popular image hosting services and integrates seamlessly with ShareX. With just a few clicks, you can upload screenshots directly to Imgur and get a shareable link instantly.

Setting Up Imgur in ShareX

Step 1: Get Imgur API Credentials

1. Go to https://api.imgur.com/oauth2/addclient
2. Sign in with your Imgur account (create one if needed)
3. Fill in the application form:
   • Application name: ShareX (or any name you prefer)
   • Authorization type: OAuth 2 authorization without a callback URL
   • Email: Your email address
4. Submit and copy your Client ID and Client Secret

Step 2: Configure ShareX

1. Open ShareX
2. Go to Destinations > Image uploaders > Imgur
3. Paste your Client ID
4. (Optional) Paste your Client Secret for OAuth
5. Click Authorize to link your Imgur account
6. A browser window opens — log in and authorize ShareX
7. Return to ShareX and close the settings window

Step 3: Set Imgur as Default Uploader

1. Go to Destinations > Image uploader
2. Select Imgur from the dropdown

Uploading to Imgur

With Imgur configured:

1. Take a screenshot as usual
2. If you have set Imgur as the default image uploader, the screenshot uploads automatically
3. The Imgur URL is copied to your clipboard
4. Paste the link wherever you need

You can also upload existing images:

1. Open ShareX main window
2. Click Upload > Upload file
3. Select an image file
4. The Imgur link is generated and copied to clipboard

Managing Your Uploads

• All uploads appear in your Imgur account under "Images"
• You can delete or manage images from imgur.com
• Anonymous uploads expire after a period; authenticated uploads stay in your account

Tips

• Use albums on Imgur to organize related screenshots
• Set up After upload tasks to automatically open the URL in browser
• Anonymous uploads are still publicly accessible via the direct link
