Scrolling Capture

ShareX's scrolling capture feature allows you to capture entire web pages, long documents, or any content that extends beyond the visible viewport. Instead of taking multiple screenshots and stitching them manually, ShareX handles the scrolling and combining automatically.

How It Works

1. Open the content you want to capture (webpage, document, file explorer, etc.)
2. Activate scrolling capture from the Capture menu or via hotkey
3. Select the window or region you want to capture
4. ShareX automatically scrolls and stitches frames together
5. The final result is a single, seamless long screenshot

Capture Methods

ShareX provides multiple scrolling capture methods:

Configuration Options

You can fine-tune the scrolling capture behavior:

• Scroll delay — Time between scroll actions (adjust for slow-loading pages)
• Overlap — How much each frame overlaps with the previous (prevents cutting off content)
• Maximum scrolls — Limit the number of scrolls to avoid infinite scrolling pages
• Adjust top/left — Offset for fixed headers or sidebars
• Ignore top/bottom — Trim static elements like taskbars or headers

Edge Cases

Scrolling capture handles several tricky scenarios:

• Fixed headers — Adjust the top offset to exclude persistent navigation bars
• Parallax backgrounds — The feature can be adjusted to handle layered scrolling effects
• Infinite scroll pages — Use the maximum scroll limit to prevent endless captures
• Slow-loading content — Increase the scroll delay for pages with lazy-loaded images
